Tippy

Tippy is a sweet, shy girl that is available for adoption with Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota (SDR).  She is a puggle mix and is just under 2 yrs old.  Tippy is the Featured Dog this month with SDR so she might get scooped up fast with all the extra press!

If you want to know more about Tippy you can check out the featured bit on the SDR homepage, or go right to her bio to find a link to fill out an adoption application :)

A Whole Lotta Fun

These sisters have a little bit of Pippi Longstocking and/or Punky Brewster brewing inside of them, which makes them a lot of fun!  I don't have to do much other then click away and just capture their playfulness.  Kids are pretty awesome like that :)

Celebrate 13!

Turning 13 is a BIG deal!  Finally a teenager and soooo close to that driver's license you can taste it.  Well, maybe not that close, but the possibilities seem endless at the time.

This 13 yr old loves the water, her dog, and sometimes her sister ;)  What a great way to capture that time with a photo session.

Frank

Frank was adopted on Sept 15, 2012!
Here is his new wonderful forever family:

I'll miss my little white fluff ball but he will have a fantastic and sweet family to take care of him.
Kisses Frank  xoxo, Kirsten

You can read about Frank before his adoption below...

This is Frank.  (*Photos and description updated 9/4/12*)

Adorable right?!

Frank is a 3 year old Maltese that I am fostering through Secondhand Hounds which means that he is available for adoption.  That's right, this sweet face could live with you and be the best little lap dog you have ever imagined!

I don't know much about Frank's past, except that he came from an outdoor shelter in Kansas.  Frank was probably not even his original name, but he is used to it now.  I tend to call him Frankie most of the time.

When Frank came to MN he arrived with 12 other dogs, all of them dirty and scared.  This is what Frank looked like when he came home with me, he was matted to the skin!

He got cleaned up and started ear meds for a pretty bad ear infection.  He was happy to lose all that lumpy fur, but he was kind of a scrawny guy!  He has fattened up a bit since then.

Then (July 2012):

Now (Sept 2012):

Frank loves to go for walks, and will prance along right next to you.  This little guy needs some exercise every day, mostly because it keeps him happy and he looks forward to those walks!  He does try to chase chipmunks and bugs, so you have to make sure to keep a hold on his leash when you are outside.  When he is on a walk he will bark at other dogs, but doesn't have a problem with them when he meets them.

Inside the house Frank has gained confidence and he loves to be near people or the resident dog.  He is interested in visitors but won't let them pet him right away.

Frank is kennel trained but does not like being in his kennel for long periods of time, so I think the best home for him would be a home where someone is there for most of the day - not gone 9 hrs a day.  He may have some abandonment issues, or separation anxiety, but we are finding ways for him to feel more comfortable when left at home.  I have used some aromatherapy sprays and started leaving him out of his kennel to be with his foster sister dog when I leave the house and he is not as stressed when I return.

Frank would do well with another doggie friend in the home.  He likes the company although he prefers to be the one who gets all the attention :)

Frank also does really well with my two little kids.  They make a lot of noise but he doesn't seem too worried about it.

If you adopt Frank you will get a sweet little guy who loves to be with you!   He deserves a wonderful home since he has had a tough time of it.  It may take him a little bit to warm up to you but he will give you kisses, sit on your lap, and just love you!

PS - He doesn't mind car rides either!

Check out Secondhand Hounds for adoption info to take this sweet boy home!

Bunny Love

Kids have an amazing amount of energy, even when it is hot out!  This little cutie kept me running the whole time, and she wasn't even tired by the end.  I, on the other hand, went and sat in my car with the A/C blasting all the way home.

I loved that she brought her bunny with for this photo session because you can tell that bunny is pretty special to her.  If I remember correctly the bunny's name is Waffles :)  I hope mom and dad have a back-up bunny just in case, or can you microchip toys yet?  That might be a good idea since I have a couple of blankies that I can't afford to lose.

Kid Books

This family was celebrating their little guy's first birthday and brought along a wagon, some books and their cute puggle for their photo shoot.  I've mentioned it before but I always love it when people bring their canine family members and/or other items to personalize the photos.  You can't go wrong with a few extra props :)  The books were probably the best part of the photo shoot for the birthday boy.  He's going to be a literary guy!
