Frank

Frank was adopted on Sept 15, 2012!
Here is his new wonderful forever family:

I'll miss my little white fluff ball but he will have a fantastic and sweet family to take care of him.
Kisses Frank  xoxo, Kirsten

You can read about Frank before his adoption below...

This is Frank.  (*Photos and description updated 9/4/12*)

Adorable right?!

Frank is a 3 year old Maltese that I am fostering through Secondhand Hounds which means that he is available for adoption.  That's right, this sweet face could live with you and be the best little lap dog you have ever imagined!

I don't know much about Frank's past, except that he came from an outdoor shelter in Kansas.  Frank was probably not even his original name, but he is used to it now.  I tend to call him Frankie most of the time.

When Frank came to MN he arrived with 12 other dogs, all of them dirty and scared.  This is what Frank looked like when he came home with me, he was matted to the skin!

He got cleaned up and started ear meds for a pretty bad ear infection.  He was happy to lose all that lumpy fur, but he was kind of a scrawny guy!  He has fattened up a bit since then.

Then (July 2012):

Now (Sept 2012):

Frank loves to go for walks, and will prance along right next to you.  This little guy needs some exercise every day, mostly because it keeps him happy and he looks forward to those walks!  He does try to chase chipmunks and bugs, so you have to make sure to keep a hold on his leash when you are outside.  When he is on a walk he will bark at other dogs, but doesn't have a problem with them when he meets them.

Inside the house Frank has gained confidence and he loves to be near people or the resident dog.  He is interested in visitors but won't let them pet him right away.

Frank is kennel trained but does not like being in his kennel for long periods of time, so I think the best home for him would be a home where someone is there for most of the day - not gone 9 hrs a day.  He may have some abandonment issues, or separation anxiety, but we are finding ways for him to feel more comfortable when left at home.  I have used some aromatherapy sprays and started leaving him out of his kennel to be with his foster sister dog when I leave the house and he is not as stressed when I return.

Frank would do well with another doggie friend in the home.  He likes the company although he prefers to be the one who gets all the attention :)

Frank also does really well with my two little kids.  They make a lot of noise but he doesn't seem too worried about it.

If you adopt Frank you will get a sweet little guy who loves to be with you!   He deserves a wonderful home since he has had a tough time of it.  It may take him a little bit to warm up to you but he will give you kisses, sit on your lap, and just love you!

PS - He doesn't mind car rides either!

Hi Kirsten! Frank had an exciting first day at home. He explored the house and yard and got a couple of visitors. Grandma and Grandpa had to come over to meet the new granddog and he got cozy on grandma's lap for a long time. He was so happy when we took him for a walk after dinner. Both girls practiced walking him and he did great! Frank's very tired right now... he didn't want to sleep too much today. He just kept looking around when he did find a quiet spot to sit. He's currently snoozing as Tony's watching football. We'll take him out one last time before we go to bed. We are hoping that he does ok tonight. We'll put his bed in our bedroom and see how it goes! Thanks for taking care of Frankie! It's obvious he's been well loved. We are happy to have found our sweet new family member.
