A Warm November Day

50 degrees, and it's the day after Thanksgiving!  Perfect weather for photos!
I'm not quite done editing this session since I just took the photos today, but I wanted to share a few since I bought a couple new storyboards and I wanted to try one out!  Let me know what you think :)

And one more because she's just so cute...

Small Business Saturday

All those Black Friday deals can get everyone excited to shop at those big stores, but don't forget the little stores too. We are just hours away from the second annual Small Business Saturday, which promotes shopping "small".
Take some time out of your busy shopping weekend and try out some of the small businesses near you.  Then continue shopping at small businesses all year, and don't forget KME Photography :)

I want to show some support to a few businesses that have provided me with some fabulous knit items!
Check out these businesses to work with great people and buy wonderful handmade things:

Snow! and Manny!!

The first official snow of this winter arrived yesterday, and while everyone is re-learning how to drive in it, I felt like I was re-learning how to shoot in it!  Of course today was a beautiful sunny day (although ridiculously cold!!), which made that white snow light up nice and bright - not the most favorable conditions for photos.

Today I got to take some photos of Manny who is available for adoption through Small Dog Rescue.  His brave foster mom brought him out to the park even though it was a balmy 25 degrees out - I'm guessing I will be laughing at that statement in February when the high will be single digits.

Manny was a curious guy, excited to be outside in a new place, loved to look around and smell things, and didn't seem to be too bothered by the cold.  This guy would be great for someone who is active since he has energy!  He is smart and such a sweetie!!

More November Newborns!!

I have to say, I feel pretty lucky when I am able to be a part of the first couple of weeks of a newborn's life.  They are so teeny tiny, and just love to be held, AND I am not the one getting up with them every couple of hours at night ;)
All kidding aside, I feel honored to be a part of those first couple of weeks when that little baby, or babies, is/are just so new and fresh!!

Last weekend I was doubly honored to take photos of twin girls.  I had never photographed twin newborns before and so I wasn't sure what I would be in for.  One of the babies slept like a champ, but the other really wanted to stay awake to see what was going on.  As much as we tried she was up!  I just hope that at night the twins coordinate their schedules a little better to help mom and dad out :)

This was the sleepy one :)  While mom was off tending to sister I grabbed some solo shots

Big brother got to join in the fun too!  This family has some adorable kids!!

And one with the doggie :)

Silverwood Park

I was asked by a couple of sisters to do a photo session with them and their dog - such a cute idea!  They suggested Silverwood Park in St. Anthony, MN.  I had never been there but I'm so glad I have made this park discovery!  It is a nice park on a lake with great walking paths, as well as buildings that include a coffee shop, an art gallery, and education facilities.

For the photo session the sisters braved the cold wind for a shot on the dock, and then we wandered around some of the paths.  It was a fun session and I even got a little walk in :)

I was so excited to hear when this little guy arrived since he is my first newborn for November!  Not only that, but this little sweetie is my *new* neighbor.   I had a great time photographing him and his loving family!  He was a champ and wore some great hats from Sweet Casper (mohawk hat), and Knit One Crochet Two (tail hat).   Check out their sites for some great knit items!  Sweet Casper also donates 50% of profits to help animal rescue, so you get great products and you feel good too!  :)

Quick! Before It Gets Dark Out!!

It's that time of year again... it's dark outside!!!  But there are some smart people who realized that the time change was quickly approaching, and quickly scheduled an evening photo session before the dreaded time change.  And boy, was it a fun family photo session!  I think at one point there was a choir singing behind me to get some smiles out of the kiddos.  I told them I may have to hire them for other photo shoots!  We took full advantage of one of the last evenings of light and basically had two family sessions with cousins and family.  Once again the weather couldn't have been nicer.  I'm wondering if this means next year it will rain all fall...

This post is sort of like a "sneak peek" since there may be photos that are Christmas presents and they requested no individual photos on facebook, that way there won't be the urge to "tag" themselves and ruin the surprise :)

This is what you get with a choir singing behind you!

Some evening glow still left!  I miss it already.

And just for fun, a couple of "bloopers".  It can be rough getting photos taken at the end of the day and near dinner time.  Even candy loses it's luster.
